The International Regtech Association has been launched to support and establish the global rechtech ecosystem, to inspire innovation in regulatory software, and to promote collaboration between regtech companies.

Incorporated in Switzerland on 16 May, the not-for-profit International RegTech Association (IRTA) is a club for people and organisations who want to innovate, advance, and influence the future of regulatory IT.

Sponsored and funded by its members, the IRTA's aims are integration, collaboration and knowledge-sharing. It claims to be unique and wants to turn 'regtech' people into professionals such as doctors and architects. Indeed, its propaganda expresses a desire to promote "the RegTech profession," implying that one exists already. It also claims to 'liaise' with the most influential financial regulators and academics.

Subas Roy, is the "global chair." The executive board comprises 23 'regtech,' legal and compliance people, along with academics and bankers. No regulator is on it as yet.

Anyone with an interest in the future of the industry can join, including regtech vendors, fintech vendors, government agencies, service providers, consultancies, regulated financial institutions, academics and private individuals.
