, an investment house with more than £2.1 trillion ($2.79 trillion) in assets under management, has launched its flagship global equity strategy as an open-ended investment company (OEIC) in the UK.
The launch of Capital Group UK – New Perspective Fund (NPF UK) enables UK investors to tap into changes in the world economy which more than 60 per cent of UK financial intermediaries agree are occurring, according to Capital Group research.
The NPF UK strategy uses bottom-up research to identify and invest in multinational companies that the firm thinks offer strong growth opportunities and resilience capable of driving and benefiting from global change.
"Change in the global economy is constant, but the current landscape stands out due to a unique blend of numerous structural shifts happening all at once. In this new era, investment strategies like New Perspective offer the flexibility to navigate market shifts unrestricted by sector, theme, or style, to capture a broad opportunity set and new reality of investing,” Steve Smith, equity investment director, Capital Group, said in a statement.
In its survey of 205 professional investors, all of whom are retail intermediaries, Capital Group found that 71 thought that a single megatrend – artificial intelligence – was the best investment opportunity for the next 12 to 24 months. Other megatrends – such as energy transition (13 per cent), healthcare innovation (9 per cent), and evolving globalisation (6 per cent) – could be being overlooked.
Investors are most confident with investing in equities (56 per cent) and 61 per cent of those expect to boost equity allocations in the coming year. Within equities, multinational companies are viewed by 71 per cent of intermediaries as offering strong growth prospects over the coming decades.
"Our research shows that 70 per cent of intermediaries consider it difficult to find an equity fund that can demonstrate its ability to invest through market cycles and periods of uncertainty,” Chris Miles, head of UK financial intermediaries, Capital Group, said.
