Bank Julius Baer Names New Swiss Market Head

The bank said that the new head, who joined in 2019, has managed his role as market head Germany and Austria “very successfully over the past five years.”

Julius Baer has appointed Patrick Prinz to take over as head of its Swiss market, which has been managed ad interim by Sonia Gössi, head Switzerland and Europe and member of the Julius Baer executive board.

Joining on 1 August, Prinz will be responsible for all local Swiss business teams in German- and French-speaking Switzerland as well as for the implementation of strategic market initiatives. In addition to his new role, Prinz will be responsible for the Germany and Austria market until the end of the year.

Prinz has more than 25 years of wealth management experience. He joined Julius Baer in 2019 as market head Germany and Austria, which the bank said he had managed very successfully over the past five years. Prior to that, he worked for Pictet in varying capacities within the private wealth management arm, including head CIO Office in Geneva and head Family Office Services Zurich. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of St Gallen and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

“The Swiss home market is of particular importance to Julius Baer. I am very pleased that with Patrick Prinz we have been able to appoint such an experienced and respected banking professional with proven expertise and a long-standing background in wealth management to lead our Swiss market,” Gössi said.
