Bordier & Cie (UK) Chief Executive Steps Down
Holding the CEO role for 14 years, MacLeod has led the firm through major changes in the financial and wealth management world.
Jamie MacLeod is stepping down as chief executive from Bordier & Cie (UK), the business – formerly called Berry Asset Management – which is part of Bordier & Cie, the Geneva-based private bank.
MacLeod is off to pursue a new career, but the details of this are not known at this stage. WealthBriefing has contacted MacLeod for comment and may update in due course.
As part of the change, Bordier & Cie (UK) executive chairman, Jamie Berry, will become interim CEO subject to regulatory approval. Besides Berry as CEO, Mark Robinson is chief investment officer, Ian Heap is investment director and director of portfolio management, and Anthony Clewlow is chief operating officer.
Bordier has a total of five partners: Evrard Bordier, Grégoire Bordier and three non-family members.
When MacLeod joined Berry AM in 2010, he took a stake in the business; subsequently, Bordier has taken almost 100 per cent ownership of the asset management business.
Well known within the wealth sector in the UK, MacLeod, a native of Scotland, joined the business after being CEO of Skandia Investment Group in the UK from 2002 to 2009. Prior to this, he worked at Investec Asset Management and Scottish Widows Investment Partnership.
“Jamie has helped to build our firm into one of the most highly regarded private client wealth management firms, with assets under management at an all-time high of £1.9 billion ($2.47 billion),” Berry said. “After 14 years he wishes to start a new chapter in his professional career. He leaves with the Bordier Group’s very best wishes and our thanks for his significant contribution to Bordier UK and the wider group during his tenure."
Grégoire Bordier, partner at Geneva-based parent Bordier & Cie, added: "Jamie MacLeod’s work for the Bordier Group has helped the firm strengthen its position in the UK, but also in other key parts of the Group. With more than £16 billion of assets under management, and continuous growth over the last five years, Bordier & Cie SCmA has this year reached a peak, both in terms of our financial results and our assets under management."
While MacLeod was at the helm of the firm, it won industry awards from the publisher of this news service. For example, it won awards for “Specialist Wealth Manager with Assets Under Management Over £5 Billion” and “Discretionary Fund Management (DFM) Offering” at the eleventh annual WealthBriefing European Awards 2023.
