New York-listed GAMCO Investors has appointed Jeffrey Jonas as an associate portfolio manager for the Gabelli Asset fund.

Effective from October 1, Jonas joins portfolio manager Mario Gabelli, manager of the fund since its inception in 1986, and associate portfolio managers Kevin Dreyer and Christopher Marangi.

The Gabelli Asset fund is a diversified open-end investment company investing in primarily common and preferred stocks with $2.8 billion in total net assets.

Jonas started his career with Gabelli & Company in July 2003 as a research analyst covering the healthcare sector. In 2007 he was named an associate portfolio manager of the Gabelli Healthcare & WellnessRx Trust and in April of this year was hired as a portfolio manager of the Gabelli Dividend & Income Trust.

As of June 30, GAMCO Investors had $35.7 billion in assets under management.
