Maitland Makes Monaco Move
The group has bought a Monaco-based business, extending its ability to serve high net worth clients and businesses from that jurisdiction.
Global advisory and administration firm Maitland has bought the Monaco-based business Gowling WLG, which will be renamed as Maitland Advisory (Monaco).
The acquisition, the financial terms of which were not disclosed, means that Maitland is now formally licensed to provide international legal advice from its Monaco office.
The offering in the Mediterranean jurisdiction will be headed by Peter Walford, who has been established in Monaco for several years. He will work with Cécile Schlub and other members of the Maitland team in Monaco. Peter Walford, is also a solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales.
“The wealthy are rapidly becoming `global citizens’ and require a truly international service, delivered seamlessly across borders. Maitland is one of the few that can offer a seamless multi-disciplinary service through a worldwide network. We are delighted to strengthen our network with this acquisition, which is an ideal bolt-on to our multi-family office offering,” Herman Troskie, MD of Private Clients at Maitland, said.
This publication spoke last month to Maitland about its views of how technology is changing the global wealth management sector.
