People Moves
Partners Capital To Open Paris Office
The announcement comes after the group said it was building a presence in the US West Coast.
Partners
Capital, which looks after financial professionals’ and
institutions' money, is opening a continental European base
in March, choosing Paris as the location to take advantage of
opportunities – and retain market access – as a result of
Brexit.
The new office opens in March; it will be led by Edmondo
Barletta, who moves from the firm’s London office where he has
been since 2013. Barletta is client chief investment officer for
some of Partners’ Capital’s largest private investors. Prior to
this role, he worked at Bain Capital Private Equity. He will be
joined by a senior associate from the London team, a new senior
investment professional and additional hires, as well as being
supported by the 91-person London office.
The firm so far oversees $4 billion of European assets; in total,
it has about $24 billion in AuM.
The looming 29 March deadline of Brexit has focused the wealth
management industry’s minds on where to deploy staff and
operations to ensure they retain access to the European market if
the UK doesn’t achieve a trade deal.
“The decision to open a European office was initially in
anticipation of Brexit however it has since become a strategic
priority of the firm given the opportunity set in Europe,”
Partners Capital said.
“The Paris office will support any service requirements to
Partners Capital's European clients which may result from Brexit.
Additionally, it will be a research and sourcing base for
European asset managers across asset classes,” it continued.
In December last year, Partners Capital announced it will
open a
San Francisco office, targeting high net worth clients,
endowments and foundations. That office is due to open in the
summer of this year.
The firm is based in London, Boston, New York, Hong Kong and
Singapore. Its institutional clients include nine Oxford and
Cambridge Colleges, Eton College, the Met Opera (NY), the
Research Foundation for the State of New York's University
System, the Royal Academy of Arts, Milton Academy and the Cancer
Research Institute.
