A roundup of all the moves, personnel changes and appointments in the world's wealth management sector in July.

Ocorian, a specialist global provider of fund administration, capital markets, corporate, trust and regulatory and compliance services, appointed Tania Mohacs as managing director, Bermuda. Mohacs, who joined Ocorian in 2019, is also global head of countries and a member of the firm's group executive committee. Mohacs, who has more than 15 years' experience in the trust, funds and corporate services sector, was previously the group chief commercial officer.

PIMFA, the UK wealth management trade association, appointed Julia Sage-Bell as its new senior policy advisor. Sage-Bell joined PIMFA from M&G wealth platform, where she had been the chief compliance officer since 2021. 

Boodle Hatfield, a private wealth law firm, appointed William Rollin as partner to join its family and divorce practice. He was previously at Charles Russell Speechlys. Rollin has a practice covering matrimonial finance and family law, including resolving relationship breakdowns and proceedings in relation to private children matters. 

ASK Private Wealth, part of India-headquartered ASK Asset & Wealth Management Group, appointed Prateek Pant as market head for the Middle East and Africa. Separately, it named Prashant Tayal as market head for Southeast Asia.

Pant, based in Dubai, has more than 28 years’ experience in banking and financial services in India and the Middle East. Before joining ASK, he was chief business officer at WhiteOak Capital. In other roles, Pant served at RBS Private Bank, Franklin Templeton, ABN Amro Bank, HSBC, Bank of America and Commercial Bank of Qatar in the domains of branch banking, credit cards, asset and wealth management. Tayal is based in Singapore. Joining in ASK in March, he brings more than 23 years of experience in the private banking and wealth management industry.

Zurich-listed Leonteq, a structured products and insurance products firm, said Lukas Ruflin, one of its founders, and its CEO, would be stepping down once a successor is named. Ruflin was one of the co-founders of Leonteq in 2007 and remains the company’s second largest shareholder. He served on Leonteq’s board of directors from 2009 and was vice-chairman from 2015 to 2018. In 2018, he agreed to the board of directors’ request to take on the CEO role for about five years.

7IM, the UK investment and wealth management firm, hired Matteo Ruozzo as a senior quantitative investment strategist. Ruozzo reports to Matthew Yeates, deputy chief investment officer. Previously, Ruozzo worked at BlackRock for eight years. 

S64, an alternatives fintech and solutions partner to the wealth management industry, appointed Andy Gent as global chief operating officer (COO). Gent is responsible for leading S64’s corporate functions across its operations in EMEA, APAC and Latin America. With over 25 years of financial services experience, Gent spent the past 15 years at Goldman Sachs, serving in COO roles across their asset and wealth management and global banking and markets businesses. 

The UK Wealth Management arm of Rothschild & Co appointed James Morrell as its deputy CEO. Morrell wasx UK head of front office for wealth management for seven years, having originally joined as a client advisor in 2010. Morrell reports to Helen Watson, UK wealth management CEO.

DWS appointed Samantha Alexander as country officer for the UK to lead its UK-based operations. Alexander joined Deutsche Bank in 2011 as a programme manager in the business solutions group and latterly in a change management leadership role within client and data services. Alexander subsequently took on the role of programme manager for the global client group at DWS, with responsibility for operational management of the sales teams in EMEA (excluding Germany).

iCapital, the platform for alternative investments, appointed Daniel Imhof has head of EMEA client solutions, His remit is to focus on banks, wealth management organisations, and independent financial advisors across the region. Based in Zurich, Imhof reports to Marco Bizzozero, head of international business at iCapital.

Brooks Macdonald appointed Greg Mullins to the newly-created role of head of advisor solutions. Mullins leads the firm’s outsourced investment management offering for independent financial advisors. Previously, Mullins, who has more than 35 years of experience in financial services, was head of sales at Rathbones. Prior to this, he was head of IFA sales with M&G Investments.

Julius Baer appointed former Goldman Sachs senior figure Stefan Bollinger as CEO. He took the role vacated earlier this year by the exit of Philipp Rickenbacher, and will take up the role no later than 1 February 2025. A Swiss citizen, Bollinger is co-head of private wealth management for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Goldman Sachs in London. Bollinger’s career had spanned stints in Hong Kong, London, Luxembourg, New York, and Zurich. He joined Goldman Sachs in 2004 and has been partner for 14 years. 

UK-based investment consultant Redington promoted Stuart Campbell, Alexandra Gilmour, Tricia Ward and Oliver Wayne to managing director.

Newcastle-based financial advisory firm, Lowes Financial Management, appointed a new board director for its parent company Lowes Group. Claire Lockey was appointed operations director, joining a seven-strong board, as part of the organisation’s wider restructuring and expansion of its national practice and services.

Hamburg-headquartered family office Lennertz & Co appointed Achim Uebele, an expert in strategic consulting for wealthy clients, single-family offices, and foundations. Uebele, head of family office at the firm, began his career at Commerz Finanz Management, a former subsidiary of Commerzbank, and then moved to UBS in Zurich and St Gallen from 2005 to 2011. He became the branch manager for the German multi-family office Five Minds in Switzerland. In 2013, he moved to Hamburg as a senior family officer for the multi-family office Kontora, where he primarily worked in strategic consulting for large families and foundations.

Indosuez Wealth Management appointed two senior private bankers to strengthen its coverage in the GCC countries. Omar Abouzeid, who joined from Deutsche Bank, started his career in 2005 at Naeem Holding as a relationship manager for its HNWI clientele. In 2010, he became senior equity trader, before joining Capital Investment LLC as associate director, focusing on HNWI portfolio management. He then joined NBE as senior investment manager for KSA, UAE, and Egypt, before becoming vice president of private banking in 2017, first at Credit Suisse and then at Deutsche Bank from 2019. 

Rouland, who joined from Credit Suisse, began his banking career with the firm in 2009 on Credit Suisse's junior banking programme. From 2011 to 2018 he worked within the International Wealth Management division focused on the UHNW clientele in the GCC. He then joined Banque Lombard Odier in 2018 as vice president and deputy head of the Zurich Middle East team. In 2023, he rejoined Credit Suisse, with the objective of developing the offshore franchise for Credit Suisse Qatar.

Indosuez also launched an external asset management desk in DIFC. Enguerrand Lacour, who joined from Société Générale Private Banking, was appointed as head of EAM desk in Middle East.

Standard Chartered Private Bank appointed relationship managers and team leaders in the UAE. Alasdair Scarr rejoined in June from Citigroup as executive director, RM, reporting to Nash Mithani, head, private banking, UAE, and market head, global South Asian clients. Scarr has over 35 years of experience in the financial services industry. Ahmad Anabtawi joined as executive director, RM, reporting to Nash Mithani. With more than 25 years of banking experience in the Middle East, Anabtawi most recently worked with Mashreq Bank.

Sparrows Capital, a UK-based investment firm, appointed Arnie Millington to oversee its tailored model portfolio service (MPS) proposition for wealth managers – Sparrows Capital MPS. Before this, Millington worked at Seven Investment Management (7IM), running and expanding relationships with advisors and financial planners across the Midlands and the North West.

Ocorian expanded its private client team, appointing Michael Harman as commercial director, private client for Ocorian in the UK, EU and Crown Dependencies. Previously, Harman was business development manager (EMEA) at Standard Chartered Bank in London and Jersey. 

Nuveen named Saira Malik as head of the Nuveen equities and fixed income platform. Malik took over from William Huffman who served in the role prior to his appointment as CEO in June 2024.

Legal & General appointed Ashley Fagan as global head of financial institutions, joining the London distribution leadership team within its Asset Management division. Fagan, who reports to Sarah Aitken, chief client officer, works closely with L&G asset management’s existing distribution leaders globally. Previously, Fagan spent nearly six years at Amundi. 

LGT Wealth Management made three new appointments in its Manchester office as part of its regional growth plan: Simon Reeks, Fahim Amdani, and Michael Waddington.

Jamie MacLeod stepped down as chief executive from Bordier & Cie (UK), the business – formerly called Berry Asset Management – which is part of Bordier & Cie, the Geneva-based private bank. MacLeod left to pursue a new career, but the details of this weren’t known at the time of the report. As part of the change, Bordier & Cie (UK) executive chairman, Jamie Berry, became interim CEO subject to regulatory approval. Besides Berry as CEO, Mark Robinson is chief investment officer, Ian Heap is investment director and director of portfolio management, and Anthony Clewlow is chief operating officer.

CUBE, a UK regulatory technology firm partnering with private equity house Hg Capital, made a number of C-suite hires. Chris Jurasek joined as non-executive chairman; he is CEO of Chelsea Football Club and has over 25 years' experience of working with leading global tech and data companies.

Emma Brown, whom the firm called an “experienced tech finance professional and diversity champion,” joined as the new chief financial officer in September. Stéphane Besson, who is continuing as non-executive director, has been involved in supporting CUBE’s acquisitions to date in 2024.

HSBC appointed one of its own senior figures, Georges Elhedery, as group chief executive to take over from Noel Quinn. At the lender since 2005, Elhedery joined the board as chief financial officer in 2023. He has worked at the bank for 19 years and in financial services for almost 30 years.

Amundi appointed Guy Stear as head of developed markets strategy at the Amundi Investment Institute. Stear is based in Paris. Before joining Amundi, Stear worked for 20 years at Société Générale where he held various senior positions in strategy and research. Most recently, he was head of fixed income research for Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking.

Capco, a global management and technology consultancy, appointed Paul Riseborough as managing partner for its business in the UK. Riseborough was formerly a partner in Capco’s UK Banking and Payments practice, working with clients to deliver tailored solutions. Riseborough is based in London and is a member of Capco’s global senior leadership team. With 20 years' financial services industry expertise, he joined Capco in March 2023 from Nationwide Building Society. 

EdenTree Investment Management, a specialist in responsible and sustainable asset management, appointed Lauren Smith as associate fund manager on its European equities strategy. Smith was previously a global equity analyst at Rathbones. Before that she served in investment roles at BlackRock and British Airways Pensions Investment Management.

Gen II Fund Services appointed former Hg Capital senior figure Alan Ince as chief transformation officer. This is a global role.

Nedbank Private Wealth appointed Simon Gibbons as its executive head of wealth management. In his new role, Gibbons is responsible for growing the firm’s wealth management and private banking services across its four jurisdictions – the UK, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Dubai. He reports to Stuart Cummins, CEO of Nedbank Private Wealth. Gibbons has gained more than 20 years of industry experience across wealth management, financial advice, and banking, from working at firms including Barclays Wealth, Santander, and Lloyds Bank. 

Bank of Singapore’s Dubai branch hired six senior bankers in recent months for a range of client segments. Joiners include James Bowen, previously of Coutts in London, and John Gilmour, ex-Barclays Private Bank, and Bianca Yau, who like Bowen was previously at Coutts.

Bank of Singapore also brought in Sanjeev Singh and Chirag Sheth from ICICI Bank in the DIFC, as well as Rachna Oswal who joined the team from Credit Suisse in DIFC. They also cover the GCC and NRI segment.

360 ONE, an India-based wealth and asset management house, appointed financial industry figure Pankaj Fitkariwala as chief operating officer. Fitkariwala, who is a founding member of the business, returned after a four-year stint outside of the firm, during which he was the COO of Avendus Wealth and Avendus Finance. Most recently, he co-founded Wealth Fintech Goalteller, an India-registered investment advisor and distributor of financial products.

UK wealth management firm Saltus appointed Nick Heath as head of relationship management for the Saltus Partnership Programme. Heath was previously with YOU Asset Management, and held business development positions at Capital Asset Management and 7IM.

London-based multidisciplinary law firm Hunters Law appointed Amy Rowe as partner in the firm’s “rapidly growing” Family Department. Rowe has experience in fields of child abduction, wardship, jurisdictional disputes, international relocation of children, registration and enforcement of foreign orders, stranded spouses, forced marriage and FGM.

Global asset manager Invesco made promotions within its UK distribution team. Mary Cahani took on the newly-created role of head of Defined Contribution (DC) Client Engagement. Tom Banks, promoted to head of UK ETFs, joined Invesco’s UK Distribution management team. Joe Bello, whose role has been expanded to include pension and insurance clients, was promoted to head of ETF Institutional and Asset Managers; he reports to Tom Banks. Ashar Muhammad was appointed head of UK and Alternative Consultants. 

UK-based Brown Shipley appointed Cara Walters as head of HR. Walters has over two decades of HR experience in the UK and Asia, and is now based in London, reporting to CEO Calum Brewster. 

Fulcrum Asset Management made two senior hires for its Quantitative Investment Strategies (QIS) team. Justin Simler has responsibility for commercial development and business strategy and Dan Wales joined as a senior economist. Simler was previously head of multi-asset product strategy and investment specialists at abrdn. Wales joined from the International Monetary Fund. He was also an economist at the Bank of England. 

Julius Baer appointed Patrick Prinz to take over as head of its Swiss market, which has been managed ad interim by Sonia Gössi, head Switzerland and Europe and member of the Julius Baer executive board. Prinz is responsible for all local Swiss business teams in German- and French-speaking Switzerland as well as for the implementation of strategic market initiatives. In addition to his new role, Prinz is responsible for the Germany and Austria market until the end of 2024. Prinz has more than 25 years of wealth management experience. He joined Julius Baer in 2019 as market head Germany and Austria. Prior to that, he worked for Pictet in varying capacities within the private wealth management arm, including head CIO Office in Geneva and head Family Office Services Zurich.

Barclays appointed a senior figure in the financial industry, Hussain Selanim, as managing director, head of investments India and global Indians. Based in Mumbai, Selanim reports functionally to Jean-Damien Marie, global head of investments, private bank and wealth management and locally to Nitin Singh, head of the private bank for Asia-Pacific. Prior to this, Selanim was chief executive of CorpCare Ventures Private Limited.

London-headquartered Davies, a professional services and technology firm, appointed Amber Wilkinson as group chief financial officer. Wilkinson, reports to group CEO Dan Saulter. She succeeded Davies’ senior executive, Tony Debiase, who stepped down after 12 years as CFO. Wilkinson joined from global law firm, DLA Piper, where she had served as CFO since 2021. 

Octopus Investments, an investment manager in the UK, appointed Lieven Debruyne in the newly-created role of executive vice chair. Lieven has had a career in asset management, including 20 years at Schroders Investment Management, spanning roles in Hong Kong, including chief executive of the Asia Pacific region, and London, as global head of distribution and member of the group management committee. Most recently, Lieven worked as a senior advisor with the Boston Consulting Group.

UK-based accountancy and financial advisory firm Old Mill has a new six-strong board of directors, including CEO Mark Neath, and the firm’s new managing director Jolyon Stonehouse.

The other members of the new board are:
-- Simon Cole, one of the founders of Old Mill and a highly experienced chartered financial planner;  
-- Paula Hodge – a chartered financial planner – is also one of the founders of Old Mill; 
-- Andrew Vickery – a chartered accountant and head of the rural service line; and 
-- Jonathan Fox, who is the board’s non-executive advisor, has a wealth of experience in professional services. 

Evelyn Partners, a UK-based wealth management and professional services group, appointed Emma Rivers as a financial planner to help support the continued growth of the firm’s Guildford office. Rivers was previously a wealth planner at Barclays Wealth Management & Private Bank.

BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPPAM) appointed Pieter Oyens as chief marketing officer (CMO) and Guillaume Wehry as co-head of global product strategy. Oyens who reports to Steven Billiet, head of global client group, has over 20 years of asset management and investment banking experience with different regional and global executive roles in sales, product development and derivatives. Wehry leads the product strategy team alongside François Roux, reporting to Pierre Moulin, global head of products and strategic marketing. Wehry has more than 25 years of experience in the asset management industry, of which more than 10 years were based in Asia. He has held various positions of responsibility within BNP Paribas, SGAM and Amundi in Europe and Asia.

Vanguard confirmed that Salim Ramji is its new chief executive officer, based in New York; he has also joined Vanguard’s board of directors. His appointment was part of a planned transition announced in May, succeeding Tim Buckley who retired from Vanguard after more than 30 years of service, including a tenure as chairman and chief executive officer. Ramji’s background includes more than 25 years of financial services experience. As announced in May, Greg Davis, president and chief investment officer, joined Vanguard’s board of directors and Mark Loughridge, Vanguard’s lead independent director, is now the non-executive chairman of the board.

Chartered accountants, haysmacintyre, an owner-managed business, appointed Majid Hussain as a partner and its new head of private client. Hussain was previously a partner at Evelyn Partners. Hussain took over from Katharine Arthur, who led the department for 11 years, and co-head of private client, Andrew Broome. Arthur and Broome, who remained prominent partners in the private client team, work closely with Hussain.

GAM appointed Randel (Randy) Freeman as co-head/co-CIO of GAM Alternatives. Freeman works with co-head Albert Saporta to build out GAM's alternative investment capabilities in a new specialist alternative investments unit: GAM Alternatives.

Freeman has more than 30 years of experience in the global hedge fund investment management industry. He has managed a range of alternative investment funds and managed accounts during his career, which has included being a member of the investment committee of SSVL Monaco, CIO of the Fortress Centaurus Global Fund, co-head of the risk arbitrage division at Banque Paribas in London, and an associate at Goldman Sachs in New York. 

M&G said Eva Sun-Wai and Rob Burrows became co-lead managers for its Global Macro bond strategy. Eva Sun-Wai, who joined the firm in 2018, ha been co-manager of the strategy since January 2021; she is also the lead manager of the Global Government Bond strategy. Rob Burrows, who joined M&G in 2007, is a fund manager specialising in government bond and macro fixed income mandates.

Allfunds, a B2B WealthTech platform for the funds industry, made two senior appointments: Paola Rengifo, head of global operations and Miguel Ángel Treceño, chief data officer – a newly-created role, focusing on digital transformation and the firm’s data-driven culture.

Iress, a technology company providing software to the financial services industry, appointed Jennifer Rafferty as its new managing director of sourcing. Rafferty replaced Dave Miller, who retired after a 35-year career in the UK financial services and mortgage industry. He joined Avelo in 2002 and assumed his current role heading up the sourcing business in 2013 following its acquisition by Iress. Rafferty served in senior roles within Iress for 12 years, including head of engineering and delivery for the past 10 years. 

The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment appointed Jamie Lang, Chartered FCSI, as the Isle of Man branch committee president. He took over from Katie Errock ACSI who has been the president since 2022.

Paris-based asset manager Carmignac appointed Christian Elliott as a business development director for the UK, effective July. Elliott focuses on the wholesale and institutional client segments in London and the Channel Islands. He reports to Gavin Ward, who joined the company in September 2023 as head of UK business development.

Multi-family office Stonehage Fleming made a series of promotions.

In the family office division, Guy Brukman (Zurich), Mark Swart (Jersey), Thiam Marais (Cape Town) Nicholas Smith and Priyanka Hindocha (London), were promoted to partner. Hattie Graham and Patrick Lynch (London) are promoted to director.  

In investment management, Mathew Powley (London) was promoted to partner and Eleana Watts (London) was promoted to director. In group services, Monean Winterbach and Sumari Naude (Cape Town) were promoted to director and Lylanie Berg (Cape Town) were promoted to head of risk and compliance for Mauritius.

Close Brothers Asset Management appointed Marcelo Rodrigues as managing director for Scotland. Rodrigues joined from Schroders Personal Wealth in Scotland and Northern Ireland where he was responsible for business development and partnerships. He has more than 16 years of industry experience.

Oakglen Wealth, an independently owned wealth manager with offices in Jersey and London, appointed Allan Stewart as managing director of its Jersey business. Stewart is also a director of Oakglen Wealth Limited in the UK and a member of the central investment committee.

Stonehage Fleming Investment Management appointed Prandhana Naidu as a senior equity research analyst within the flagship £3.8 billion ($4.8 billion) Global Best Ideas Equity Strategy (GBI). With more than 10 years’ investment industry experience Naidu was previously a senior global equity analyst and co-fund manager at Melville Douglas Investment Management. Naidu is based in London. 

RWK Goodman appointed Keeley Lengthorn as a partner in the family team and their new head of Public Law Children, London. Qualified in 2008, Lengthorn is a recognised children lawyer practising predominately in public law children proceedings, acting for parents, the guardian, the child, extended family members and interveners. She also practises in Private Law Children Act matters, family law domestic abuse matters and surrogacy. She joined from Taylor Rose.

Arkaim Advisors, an emerging market corporate debt specialist, appointed Juliet Lim as senior credit research analyst. Lim has 16 years’ investment experience.

The head of the UBS Optimus Foundation, Maya Ziswiler, left the post after a 12-year stint at the organisation. She went to work for the Roger Federer Foundation as its CEO.

Asia-Pacific
Indosuez Wealth Management appointed Francis Tan as chief strategist Asia, based in Singapore. Tan joined from United Overseas Bank, where he spent over a decade, most recently as investment strategist at UOB Private Bank. Earlier in his career, he had worked across several financial services institutions including Phillip Capital and Royal Bank of Scotland.

Brown Advisory, the US investment firm, appointed Yoon Bean Kim as head of North Asia (ex-Japan). The role is a new one for the firm. Kim joined from Fullerton Asset Management in Singapore, where he was mainly responsible for building a presence and growing sales in South Korea. Prior to this, he worked at JP Morgan Asset Management for eight years. Eddie Yue, chief executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, was reappointed for a five-year term. 

Kees Stoute, regional private banking chief operating officer for EFG Bank, based in Hong Kong, retired from the Swiss firm. Stoute, who was in his role from July 2023, was previously CEO for EFG Bank Hong Kong from May 2017 to July last year. Before that, he was on the supervisory board for Darwin Depository Services (September 2015 to May 2017). Stoute was also a director of Sonam, a consultancy business in Westbroek, the Netherlands, and was MD for Hubbis – the media group – in Hong Kong from 2015 to 2017.

EquitiesFirst, a global asset-backed financing specialist, appointed David Oh as executive director. Oh is based in Singapore and has worked for more than 15 years in investment banking and technology finance. He has expertise in capital markets and investor relations in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), initial public offerings, as well as private fundraising.  

iCapital, an alternative investments' platform, appointed Tuan Lam as Asia-Pacific head. Based in Hong Kong, Lam reports to Marco Bizzozero, head of international business at iCapital. Separately, Edwin Chan retained his role as head of client solutions for APAC.

Julius Baer appointed former Deutsche Bank senior figure Urs Brudermann as group head for Thailand. Based in Singapore, he reports to Shui Wei Ho, Thailand market head. In this newly-created role, Brudermann oversees the bank’s offshore Thailand coverage and its joint venture with Siam Commercial Bank, SCB Julius Baer. Brudermann has more than 24 years of wealth management experience globally, including 12 years in Singapore where he held senior positions across various Southeast Asian markets. At Deutsche Bank, he served as market head for Southeast Asia, primarily covering Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Prior to joining Deutsche Bank in 2021, he spent 11 years at Credit Suisse in leadership roles, managing teams in Singapore and Hong Kong with a focus on Thailand and Malaysia.

Standard Chartered Private Bank appointed relationship managers and team leaders in its global team based across booking centres in Singapore and Hong Kong.

Singapore

Nicholas Cheng joined as managing director, head of private markets group, reporting to Foo Tian Ong, regional head, private banking, Southeast Asia, and Singapore location head. Most recently, Cheng focused on strategic advisory to C-suite, and franchise building together with UHNW and institutional limited partnerships.

Hedi Dorai joined the bank in June as executive director, RM, reporting to Vijai Krovvidi, market head, private banking, global South Asian clients. Dorai has more than 20 years’ experience, having worked in leading private banks including most recently at Credit Suisse. He has worked in investment advisory and portfolio management for HNW and UHNW clients in Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

Au Soo Leng joined as executive director, RM, reporting to team lead Andy Chua. Soo Leng brings 30 years of experience in private banking and wealth management with HSBC, during which time she honed her franchise building and client engagement skills with HNW and UHNW clients.

Angelina Wee joined as ED and RM, reporting to team lead Gregory Wong. Most recently with UBS, Wee developed her career in private banking over the last 20 years.

Royston Ow Yong joined from UBS as MD, team lead, reporting to Paterson Lau, market head, private banking, Indonesia. Yong has 25 years’ experience working with UHNW clients in Indonesia and Singapore.

Hong Shuqin and Gabriel Koh joined as director, RM and associate director, RM, respectively, reporting to Paterson. Shuqin has nearly 20 years of experience in client relationship management; most recently, she was with Deutsche Bank. Koh has more than 15 years’ private banking experience, including a spell at UBS.

Sarah Lim joined from UBS as head, investment advisory, reporting to Tian Ong. In this role, Lim leads the ASEAN and Greater China investment advisory team based in Singapore. 

Hong Kong

Jeffrey Song joined in June as executive director, RM, reporting to team lead Joseph Tam. Song brings 12 years of private banking experience to the role, having previously worked at Credit Suisse.

Charlene Mak rejoined the bank in June from Bank of Singapore as executive director, RM, reporting to team lead Elina Yuen.

Helen Tong joined as MD, RM, reporting to Kin Chan, market head, private banking, Hong Kong. Tong has 16 years of experience working in leading international banks in Hong Kong, most recently at Credit Suisse. 

Ramon Au Yeung joined from Pictet Wealth Management as executive director, RM, reporting to senior client partner, Nenita Ang Gabaldon. Yeung has more than 35 years’ experience in wealth management and private banking, covering markets in Greater China and the Philippines.

EY, aka Ernst & Young, appointed Helena Robertsson as global family enterprise services leader. She advises family-owned enterprises. Robertsson, a senior partner with more than 20 years' experience of advising firms and individuals around the world, took over from Marnix van Rij, who retired after 25 years with EY.

Valerie d'Argembeau went to work at Bordier's Singapore office to lead its regional business. Prior to this, she was managing director and private clients head, Singapore and Asia Switzerland, for Lombard Odier. Prior to Lombard Odier, where d’Argembeau worked for almost 12 years, she was at Société Générale and Barclays.

360 ONE, an India-based wealth and asset management house, appointed financial industry figure Pankaj Fitkariwala as chief operating officer. Fitkariwala, who is a founding member of the business, returned after a four-year stint outside of the firm, during which he was the COO of Avendus Wealth and Avendus Finance. Most recently, he co-founded Wealth Fintech Goalteller, an India-registered investment advisor and distributor of financial products. Other roles in a career lasting more than 20 years have included tenures at Kotak Mahindra Group, ABN AMRO, and Barclays.

Deutsche Bank appointed former HSBC senior figure Paul Handley as managing director and a market head for South-East Asia (SEA) in the private banking arm. Based in Singapore, Handley reports to Johanes Oeni, who is the head of the private bank in Southeast Asia. Handley has more than 25 years of industry experience, most recently at HSBC where he managed the Thailand desks onshore and offshore, Vietnam and Philippines. Prior to that, Handley spent five years at JP Morgan Private Bank.

Deutsche Bank appointed former UBS/Credit Suisse senior figure Hugo van Kattendijke as head of external managers for the private bank emerging markets business. Based in Singapore and reporting to Marco Pagliara, who is head of the private bank’s emerging markets head, van Kattendijke has more than 20 years’ experience in financial services and direct management experience with EAMs. He has worked with institutional asset managers in Asia Pacific since 2004. At UBS/Credit Suisse, van Kattendijke was head of external asset managers APAC. Before joining Credit Suisse in 2022, he worked for more than 10 years at UBS.

Raffles Family Office appointed former RBC Wealth Management CEO for Asia, Terence Chow, as chief operating officer. The firm reappointed a dedicated COO position after Yvonne Siu departed in 2021. Based in Hong Kong, he reports to Chi-man Kwan, RFO’s group CEO and co-founder. With over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, Chow was most recently CEO for wealth management, Asia, at RBC.

Barclays appointed a senior figure in the financial industry, Hussain Selanim, as managing director, head of investments India and global Indians. Selanim is responsible for running and distributing all investment products and services (including wealth advisory) across the private bank and wealth arms for the India and global Indians client segments. Based in Mumbai, he reports functionally to Jean-Damien Marie, global head of investments, private bank and wealth management and locally to Nitin Singh, head of the private bank for Asia-Pacific. Prior to this, Selanim was chief executive of CorpCare Ventures Private Limited, where he was responsible for building an advisory business delivering investment and financing solutions to corporates and family offices.

RBC Wealth Management made various shires in the Asia-Pacific market. The roles were all newly created: 

Daniel Soo joined RBC in Singapore as managing director and market head. Soo has 28 years of experience in the banking and financial services industry covering the Southeast Asia and Greater China markets. He joined from UBS, where he was MD and market team head; previously, Soo was at Credit Suisse and Standard Chartered Private Bank.

Lawrence Yap also joined RBC in Singapore as an executive director. Prior to RBC, Yap spent eight years at Credit Suisse and has held senior positions at Standard Chartered Private Bank and HSBC Private Bank.

The firm also added hires in Hong Kong.

Joe Lau was named as executive director and team head, bringing more than 25 years’ experience in the banking industry across Hong Kong, Singapore, China and the US. He joined from Credit Suisse, where he was a director and team leader, Greater China Market.

Sarah Tan was appointed as executive director. She was most recently at EFG Bank as an executive director and brings 25 years of private banking experience in Hong Kong, Singapore and Switzerland.

Ada Wang, ED, also joined. Wang, who was previously director for wealth management at Credit Suisse, has more than 20 years’ banking sector experience. 

Other hires:

Christy Yuan, ED spent over 25 years in the private banking and wealth management industry covering Greater China markets. She joined from Credit Suisse in Hong Kong where she was a director.

Danny Zhao, director has more than 17 years of experience in the private banking industry across Greater China. Most recently, he was a vice president at Credit Suisse.

S64, an alternatives fintech and solutions partner to the wealth management industry, appointed Sydney Matt Stovold as head of Australia and New Zealand. Prior to joining S64, Stovold’s 25-year career has included roles in Goldman Sachs, JBWere, UBS and Franklin Templeton.

Franklin Templeton appointed Oliver Lee as senior vice president, senior client portfolio manager at Templeton Global Investments (TGI). It also appointed William Chang to the newly-created role of senior client portfolio manager at Franklin Equity Group.  TGI represents the combined businesses of Franklin Templeton Emerging Markets Equity (FTEME) and Templeton Global Equity Group (TGEG) under a single umbrella.

Lee is based in Singapore and reports to Anu Sawhney, managing director and head of business development at TGI. Lee has more than 20 years of experience across investment banking and asset management in Europe and Asia. Prior to Franklin Templeton, he most recently served as a client portfolio manager representing Japan equities at Eastspring Investments. He took over from William Chang, who will still be based in Singapore, reporting to Evan Davis, head of business development at the Franklin Equity Group. 

Chang has nearly 20 years of experience in the asset management industry. Immediately before joining Franklin Templeton in 2021, Chang was a vice president with the client solutions team with Goldman Sachs Asset Management in New York. 

Synpulse, a global professional services provider to major banking and insurance institutions, appointed Joel Lim as partner and head of insurance APAC, based in Hong Kong. Formerly CEO Asia at Coherent and Technology Consulting Partner at EY Consulting, Lim has over 25 years of extensive experience in digital and emerging technologies within the financial services industry. 

PGIM Private Alternatives, part of PGIM, appointed former MLC Asset Management senior figure Daniel Greyling to the newly-created role of vice president, Asia-Pacific business development.

Greyling is based in Sydney, Australia. Greyling reports to Eduard Wehry, head of Asia-Pacific business development, PGIM Private Alternatives. At MLC, Greyling was director of institutional sales. Before this, he spent 12 years at Russell Investments.

Vistra appointed David Anderson as country managing director (CMD) for Singapore. In this newly-created role, Anderson reports directly to Kim Jenkins, chief operating officer. He joined Vistra from GLG (Gerson Lehrman Group) where he was the managing director, south APAC, with a focus on the private equity sector.

North America
JP Morgan Private Bank appointed former UBS figure Jeff Woody as head of its business in Nashville and the Tennessee market. Woody reports to Keith Fleming, head of South Atlantic for JP Morgan Private Bank. Most recently, Woody served as market director and was responsible for leading client engagement in Middle Tennessee and Alabama at UBS. 

US-based investment advisory firm Pinnacle Associates appointed Amy Pastorino as senior financial planner. Pastorino, with 20 years of high-profile experience in the investment management industry, most recently served as advanced planning and development director at Morgan Stanley. 

Cetera Financial Group, a hub for wealth firms, said that Mike McCormick, operating as Southshore Wealth Management, joined Cetera Advisor Networks via Summit Financial Networks. McCormick, who has 27 years of industry experience, holds his Series 7, Series 63 and Series 65 registrations as well as his Florida Health & Life Series 215 registration. 

Dynasty Financial Partners, the Florida-headquartered group, promoted Leslie Dentinger Norman, formerly the deputy CTO, to the post of chief technology officer. The previous holder of the CTO spot, Fred Coates, stepped down from the role.

Fiduciary Trust International appointed former Deutsche Bank figures Debjani Bagchi and Peter E McEvoy in its New York office as portfolio managers. Bagchi has nearly three decades of investment management experience. She previously served for more than 10 years as managing director and senior portfolio manager at Deutsche Bank Private Wealth Management. 

Adams Street Partners appointed Jim Walker as the global head of wealth. Walker has served as the chief operating officer at Adams Street for nearly seven years. Prior to Adams Street, Walker held a range of senior positions at Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse, and Merrill Lynch.

East Rock Capital, a wealth manager founded in 2006, hired Alexandra Schueler as senior director of strategic engagement, based in Miami, Florida. Schueler works with East Rock’s investment and operations teams. Before this, Schueler was a senior member of the business and program development team, responsible for sourcing and managing significant relationships with private equity firms, hedge funds, banks, multinational corporations, and individual philanthropists. In her seven years at the Milken Institute, Schueler also launched the Institute’s New York and Miami offices. Prior to the Milken Institute, Schueler worked in sales, marketing, and client services at Guggenheim Securities and Lord Abbett.

A private wealth advisor in Washington DC, John Cortale, moved from LPL financial to the independent channel of Ameriprise Financial. Cortale’s practice, which operates under the name Monumental Financial Planning (formerly The Cortale Group), includes financial advisors John Martin Moran and Nina Kamrani, client service manager Adam Mirza and client service coordinator Omaid Omar.  

Avantax, a community within US-based Cetera Holdings concentrating on tax-focused financial planning and wealth management, hired the founders of Noble Oak Financial – Josh Linton and Mike Koltz and director of operations – and client services Danielle Boutwell. Linton and Kolz were were previously affiliated with LPL Financial.

Avantax® also welcomed financial advisors John Surace, Kelly Powers and their S&P Financial Services team, based in Hauppauge, New York. The team transferred to Avantax from Osaic.

Alpha Capital Family Office brought in former Citi Private Bank senior wealth managers Alexandra Romeo Boyles and Will Coughlin, joining as senior wealth strategist and partner, and senior investment strategist and partner, respectively. They are based in Denver, Colorado, where Alpha Capital Family Office is headquartered. At Citi Private Bank, Boyles and Coughlin's clients included single-family offices, entrepreneurs, private business owners, endowments, foundations, and non-profits.

Regions Bank appointed Connie Rogers as private wealth management regional executive for Texas – an expanded role. Rogers leads a team of advisors providing investment services and financial guidance to clients in markets including Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, Houston, San Antonio, Tyler, Lufkin and more. Rogers most recently served as regions’ area wealth manager for North and East Texas.

Lido Advisors, a California-headquartered wealth advisory firm, appointed Henry Hagenbuch as senior managing director, head of M&A. Hagenbuch has worked in the financial services sector for more than a decade and has more than 15 years of business development experience, including five years creating and maintaining his own brand as a professional athlete. He was previously at Robertson Stephens.

Vistra, a service provider for funds and companies, appointed Caroline Baker as country managing director for North America. Baker, based in Canada, reports to Jonathan Ferrara, regional MD for the UK, Ireland, Channel Islands, India, Americas, and Middle East. Baker began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Montreal, before moving to Sydney, London, and Singapore.

A new RIA in Santa Monica under the name of Serenus Wealth Advisors launched with $1.2 billion of client money. The business was founded by Kara Boccella, ranked on the Forbes’ Top Women Wealth Advisors Best-In-State List, and Devon M Galindo, a wealth advisor with over 15 years’ experience in the sector. Most recently, they were at Certuity's Santa Monica office.

IEQ Capital appointed managing director Michael Thompson – part of an expansion in Nashville, Tennessee. Thompson has nearly two decades of experience in wealth management, specializing in financial planning and investment advisory services. 

Baird, a US wealth and asset management, investment banking/capital markets and private equity firm, added former Wells Fargo figure Matthew Langham as senior vice president and financial advisor to its wealth office in Toledo, Ohio. Langham was joined by senior client specialist, Cristina Phillips. He has more than 20 years of industry experience.

Nepsis, a US financial advisor and investment management firm, appointed Malia Haskins as its inaugural vice president of estate planning. With more than three decades’ wealth sector experience, most of Haskins’ career in wealth management was spent with RBC Wealth Management. 

International law firm Withers set up a family law practice in New York, led by new partner Nicky S Rooz, who previously worked in the family and matrimonial law group at Blank Rome for nearly a decade beforehand.

Vanguard announced that Salim Ramji had become its new chief executive officer, based in New York. He succeeded Tim Buckley who retired from Vanguard after more than 30 years of service, including a tenure as chairman and chief executive officer. Prior to joining Vanguard in July 2024, Ramji served in a variety of roles over the past 25 years spanning investments, capital markets, and wealth management. Most recently, he was the global head of iShares and index investments at BlackRock, as well as a member of the global executive committee.

Rockefeller Global Family Office added Titus Wealth Partners, part of the group’s presence in Boston, Massachusetts. Titus is led by wealth management veteran Jeffrey Titus, managing director and private advisor, who has more than 30 years of experience providing sophisticated advice to ultra-high net worth clients. The team also includes vice president and team chief investment officer Daniel O’Neill, and VP and team chief wealth strategist Haley Pink. Before joining RGFO, the team had worked at JP Morgan Wealth Management. 

MSCI, provider of investment indices and other data, appointed Alvise Munari as chief product officer. Previously, he was chief client officer. Munari, based in Geneva, has 20 years’ financial industry experience, including product innovation leadership roles at Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, and Morgan Stanley. Munari continues to report to Baer Pettit, president and chief operating officer at MSCI.

Remy Briand previously served in the CPO role. Briand took on a new role at MSCI as head of solutions. As a result of Munari's appointment, Axel Kilian was appointed as chief client officer, reporting to Pettit. Kilian joined MSCI in 2020 as head of client coverage for EMEA. 

BNY appointed Jose Minaya as the new global head of its investments and wealth business, following Hanneke Smits' decision to retire. Minaya reports to president and chief executive, Robin Vince. Prior to this, Minaya worked at Nuveen, the global asset management firm that is part of TIAA. 

Professional services business JTC bolstered its private client services division for the Americas by building two distinct regions: JTC USA (PCS) and JTC LatAm. Matt Tobin and Jim Paladino, who joined JTC through its acquisition of South Dakota Trust Company in 2023, became regional co-heads of JTC USA (PCS). They lead the SDTC offices in South Dakota and New York and took on the additional responsibility of overseeing JTC’s operations in Delaware and South Dakota. 

Emilio Miguel, who was instrumental in the launch of JTC Americas in 2012 and has played a pivotal role in the growth of JTC in the US, moved back to Argentina to become regional head of JTC LatAm, which spans Mexico, Central America and South America. He also continues to lead the Miami-based LatAm team.

Raymond James

Raymond James welcomed financial advisor Stacy McVan to the firm's employee advisor channel in Dublin, Ohio. McVan was previously at Edward Jones, where she managed over $100 million in client assets. 

The firm also brought over financial advisor Rose Gatto to its employee advisor channel in Birmingham, Michigan. Along with senior client service associate Debbie Beardsley, Gatto arrived from Comerica Financial Advisors, a financial advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services. 

The business also welcomed financial advisor Billy Focia to its employee advisor channel ­in Birmingham, Alabama. Focia was previously at Merit Financial. 

Ryan Brisiel, who was formerly at Arvest Wealth Management, joined Raymond James's employee advisor channel – SWK Financial Planning Advisors of Raymond James. He is based in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
