WEALTH TALK: UK Millionaires And Non-Doms Depart – The Impact

This is an audio recording of an interview this publication's editor recently did with the UK free market think tank about tax, the impact on HNW individivuals, and the wider UK economy.

This news service's editor, Tom Burroughes, sat down last week with Maxwell Marlow, research head at the Adam Smith Institute, to ask about its recent work on the impact on the UK economy from rising taxes and the changes to the UK's resident non-domicile system. One take-home point from Marlow is that he fears the UK is falling into an anti-"prosperity culture."

This is an audio recording, and runs for about 18 minutes.

The ASI said that millionaires are leaving the UK for a number of reasons, including high levels of current taxation, threats of further increases, and a hostile culture towards wealth creators. (For a report about hostile attitudes towards the rich, see this WealthBriefing review of a study of attitudes to the rich, by Rainer Zitelmann, a Germany-based sociologist and entrepreneur.)
