The latest moves in wealth management from across Europe and the UK.
BlueBay
BlueBay Asset
Managementt, RBC Global Asset Management’s specialist fixed
income manager, has appointed Julian Mueller (pictured)
as director of its business development team.
Based in Munich, he will report to Michael Wolfram, head of
institutional sales Germany and Austria. Mueller previously spent
five years working for German asset manager DJE Kapital in
Pullach, most recently as head of sales institutional clients. He
started his career in 2007 with State Street Global Advisors in
Munich. He holds an MBA from the Technical University of Munich
and an undergraduate degree in business administration from
Bocconi University in Milan.
His appointment follows several
other appointments in the Munich office in 2021, reinforcing
BlueBay’s commitment to strengthening its presence in northern
Europe. “Julian has a wealth of knowledge and experience within
business development roles and his addition will help us with our
growth ambitions for this important region,” Wolfram said.
Tilney Smith & Williamson
Tilney
Smith & Williamson has made two financial planner
appointments as it expands its Exeter office amidst increasing
demand for its services. The appointments are Mark Newman and
Stephen Read.
Newman joins from Kelsall Steele Investment Services where he
worked as a senior financial planner for three and a half years
in Truro. Prior to this, he held various key positions including
at a FTSE 100 investment advisor for eight years. He will focus
on covering Cornwall in the new role. Newman is a chartered
member of the CISI.
Stephen Read is joining from Succession Wealth where he
cultivated an interest in financial planning whilst working as a
mergers and acquisitions manager. In a career spanning 30 years,
he progressed through a series of corporate finance, treasury and
accounting roles at energy, technology and investment companies
both in the UK and in Switzerland. He is a member of the Personal
Finance Society and the Chartered Institute of Management
Accountants.
“Both Mark and Stephen bring valuable experience gained at
leading firms and will help us fulfil our ambitious expansion
plans for the year ahead. We are seeing considerable interest in
our financial planning and investment management services and are
committed to continuing to invest in high quality people for our
team to ensure clients are provided with the best possible
support,” Mark Wilkins, managing partner of Tilney Smith &
Williamson’s Exeter office, said.
Arc & Co
The former chief executive of Sandaire, the multi-family
office, ex-CEO of Arbuthnot Latham,
has been named chairman of specialist UK debt advisory firm
Arc &
Co.
James Fleming is joining a firm that is expanding its markets and
personnel, Arc & Co said in a statement.
“Over the last decade Arc & Co has developed a strong brand and
reputation in the advisory market. It is time for Arc & Co to
appoint a chairman to take us to the next level,” Andrew
Robinson, chief executive and founder of the firm, said.
Suntera Global
Suntera
Global has appointed Ian Horswell as global head of business
development within the fund services arm of its international
operations. He is based in Jersey.
Having worked in the sector for more than 20 years, Horswell has
a wealth of experience in funds from administering single asset
holding vehicles to overseeing large complex structures. Prior to
joining Suntera, he worked for multiple global organisations,
including JTC, where he was responsible for European business
development initiatives.
Horswell’s appointment is one of several moves made as Suntera
seeks to expand its international funds practice. It follows on
from the recent acquisitions made in Luxembourg and the licence
granted in July by the Jersey Financial Services Commission
(JFSC) to provide fund administration services on the
Island.
Schroders
Schroders has
appointed Tim Goodman as head of corporate governance. Goodman
has 29 years’ experience in the environmental, sustainability and
governance sectors, as well as the responsible investor and
corporate communities sectors more broadly. He will be based at
Schroders' head office in London.
Prior to joining Schroders, Goodman spent 14 years at Federated
Hermes, including most recently as director of engagement where
he focused on the energy, technology, consumer goods and retail
sectors. He has also worked in the insurance industry serving in
senior management roles before becoming a company secretary at
the UK-listed Domestic & General Group.
Wedlake Bell
City law firm Wedlake Bell has
appointed George Merrylees as a partner in its private client
offshore team. His appointment is with immediate effect.
Previously, Merrylees had practised at Irwin Mitchell since 2014
and was a partner for over four years.
Merrylees’ areas of expertise are cross-border tax planning,
asset structuring and succession. He acts for international high
net worth individuals, trustees and family offices, with a
particular focus on assisting fund managers, business owners,
entrepreneurs. A specialist in his field, he is one of the few UK
lawyers able to advise on complex matters in French. Alongside
his legal practice, Merrylees sits on the Advisory Council of the
French Chamber of Commerce, is the chairman of the Franco-British
Society, and sits as an alumni representative on the
Franco-British Young Leaders Board.
