Northern Trust Asset Management
Northern
Trust Asset Management (NTAM), with $1.2 trillion in
assets under management as of 31 March 2024, has appointed David
Abner (pictured) as head of global ETFs and funds.
Abner will be responsible for overseeing NTAM’s mutual fund and ETF product strategy, research and development, product management, and capital markets, as well as fund services and treasury functions. He will report to Paula Kar, NTAM global head of product.
“As we innovate and continue to build our suite of funds, David’s proven leadership and deep expertise will help drive NTAM’s continued growth in this key area of our business,” NTAM president Daniel Gamba said.
Most recently, Abner was global head of business development at Gemini Crypto Exchange. Previously, he spent more than a decade with WisdomTree Asset Management in a number of leadership roles, including as CEO of WisdomTree Europe.
Earlier in his career, Abner held leadership positions in ETFs at BNP Paribas and Bear Stearns & Co. He holds a master’s degree in management and policy analysis and a bachelor’s degree in economics and philosophy from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
Crestbridge Family Office Services
Crestbridge
Family Office Services (FOS) has appointed Mark Beer as its
newest director.
Beer, who was previously at RBC Services, will lead a team of client-facing professionals meeting the multi-jurisdictional needs of UHNW families. He will also oversee the administration and management of complex offshore trust and company structures.
With over 20 years’ experience in the finance industry, Mark has extensive expertise in the wealth management and estate requirements of UHNW families across a breadth of jurisdictions. He specialises in working alongside prominent North American families, managing various asset classes, including investment portfolios, trading companies, private equity investments, commercial and residential real estate, and artwork.
Beer holds the ICSA Certificate and Diploma in Offshore Finance and Administration and is a fellow of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA).
“We are delighted to welcome Mark into the firm at what is an exciting time for us. His skills and background will enable us to further enhance and refine the service we provide to our clients, and we are pleased to have attracted a director of his calibre,” Heather Tibbo, CEO of Crestbridge Family Office Services, said.
In recent months, Crestbridge FOS has capitalised on its independence and private ownership by increasing its staff numbers, including substantially strengthening its mid-tier management. Last July, US-based Gen II Fund Services bought Crestbridge’s institutional businesses for an undisclosed sum. Following the transaction, Crestbridge Family Office Services continued as an independent business.
