The autonomous administrative body that regulates and supervises banking activity in Turkey has appointed Mehmet Ali Akben as its new head. Akben used to be a member of Turkey’s Savings Deposit Insurance Fund board.
The government's official gazette has announced the appointment. The previous leader of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency died earlier this month. Mutalip Unal, his former deputy, acted as a caretaker leader until Akben's appointment.
