Former CEO of FSA to chair Julius Baer
Chris Hamblin, Editor, London, 1 July 2015
Sir Hector Sants has agreed to join Julius Baer International Limited as its chairman and takes up his duties today.
Sir Hector succeeds Gian Rossi who was chairman for nine years and who will remain actively involved with the firm’s business in the UK. Despite the former regulator's disappointing history at Barclays, the Swiss bank thinks it a great honour - and a token of its commitment to the United Kingdom - to welcome him. Sir Hector worked at the Financial Services Authority as Chief Executive Officer between 2007 and 2012, having previously worked at Credit Suisse First Boston where he had been Chief Executive Officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. After leaving Barclays Bank in November 2013, Sir Hector has been chairing the Archbishop of Canterbury’s taskforce on promoting responsible savings and credit and advising Abu Dhabi Global Market. From this day forth, Sir Hector will also be working as vice chairman and partner at Oliver Wyman, a management consultancy. Compliance Matters wishes him a stress-free tenure in his new post.
