CIMA appoints two new deputy heads

The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority has announced the appointment of two senior officials: Mr Raz Busari as the deputy head of its Insurance Supervision Division and Mr Garth Ebanks as the deputy head of its Investments and Securities Division.
Ebanks, a native of the Cayman Islands, earnt a bachelors' degrees in accounting and business administration at Florida International University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant with considerable knowledge of and experience in various aspects of Cayman finance. He once worked at KPMG as an audit manager, then joined CIMA in October 2013 as a chief analyst in the Investments and Securities Division.
Razaak Busari brings more than 15 years of experience in the financial services industry to bear on his new job. He began in 1999 as an associate with the UK’s Financial Services Authority. Between 2006 and the present day, he served as an associate director at the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority, where he played a significant part in regulating/supervising a portfolio of financial institutions from both a conduct-of-business and prudential view-point. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in English at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria, and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of North London. He also holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Islamic Banking and Insurance from the Institute of Islamic Banking & Insurance (IIBI) in the UK and is an associate fellow of the institute.
