FCA publishes PPI complaints deadline progress report

The UK's Financial Conduct Authority has published an update on the progress of its payment protection insurance (PPI) consumer communications campaign and supporting supervisory work.
The campaign has succeeded in increasing consumers’ understanding of PPI and how to find out whether they have had it, while also making them aware of the deadline for lodging complaints. 73% of people recognise the FCA’s campaign and more than two million people have visited the FCA's PPI website since the regulator's TV campaign began.
The campaign urges consumers to make a decision about whether or not to complain about PPI by the deadline of 29 August 2019.
After the deadline, the FCA will publish its final report in early 2020. It will contain a definitive review of the effect of the regulator's measures and will draw the PPI issue to a close.
